Tell HMRC you have started trading

Within 3 months of starting to trade you need to make sure HMRC are aware you have started trading.

We can do this for you, or you can do it yourself online.

HMRC will issue you with a ten digit Unique Tax Reference (UTR)

if you start trading in a tax year and don't register with HMRC before 31st October of the following tax year you could be fined.

If you are a partnership there is an additional registration step to get the partnership registered as well. The partnership will get it's own Unique Tax Reference from HMRC. Also al lindividual partners will require the own unique tax reference.
